What are Eyelash Extensions?

At Naked Skin Care, we offer classic eyelash extensions. This is where one extension is applied to one natural, healthy eyelash. Borboleta Eyelash extensions are faux mink, meaning they are made up of a unique synthetic fiber making them super soft and light. Borby lashes are typically deep matte black and never lose their curl!

How long will eyelash extensions last?

Eyelash Extensions should last the length of your natural eyelash growth cycle. The average person has 100-150 lashes and on average you can shed 3-5 eyelashes everyday. This means fills are required if you want to keep your lashes looking full. Fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks. 

 

Are lash extensions safe?

Yes! When applied correctly eyelash extensions are perfectly safe! Extensive training was taken in order to ensure your lashes are properly taken care of. During your appointment, your lashes are carefully looked over so we can determine the proper length, curl, and diameter of extension your natural lashes can handle safely. Professional grade adhesive is then used to adhere the extension to your natural lash in a way that the adhesive should never come in contact with your actual skin. Borboleta adhesives are also latex and formaldehyde free!

How long does it take to have extensions applied?

The application process for a new full set is typically around 2 hours. and fills depend on the amount of time since your last full application or fill appointment. During the application, you will relax on massage table while the technician works quietly to design your new lashes. Feel free to fall asleep!

How do I prepare for my lash appointment?

Please arrive to your lash appointment free of all eye makeup and with no contacts in. A basic lash cleanse is included to remove basic debris and oils, however if you arrive with makeup that still needs to be removed, you will be charged for a lash bath, as extra time and product will be required to ensure proper retention of your lash extensions.

You are welcome to bring earbuds to your appointment as some appointments could last an extended period of time depending on if you are receiving a new full set or longer fill.

Your only other job is to lay back and relax. Feel free to take a nap, we'll wake you up when your lashes are gorgeous!

How do I take care of my new lash extensions?

​Caring for your new lash extensions is pretty minimal. Following these basic steps will help ensure your lash extensions last:

• Do not use mascara on your lash extensions

• Do not pick or pull on your lash extensions - this could damage your natural eyelash.

• Brush your lashes daily.

• Wash lashes daily with a cleanser. We recommend and sell Borboleta Lash Bath.

• Avoid eye makeup and creams with oil.

• Avoid any waterproof makeups.

• When using makeup, be sure to wash makeup off daily with an oil free makeup remover. We recommend and sell Borboleta makeup remover.

• It is best to sleep on your back as side or stomach sleeping could potentially damage your lashes.

• Remember your lifestyle and activities such as exercising, swimming, hot yoga, etc, can affect your lash retention.

Can I use mascara?

Eyelash extensions are meant to give you a fuller and darker eyelash look, so mascara is not needed. However if needed, mascara may be used. Just make sure that you do NOT use waterproof eye makeup around your extensions and that you remember to remove all eye makeup with a non oil-based makeup remover. We do offer eyelash cleaner and makeup remover for purchase, that is specifically designed for eyelash extensions. Please remember that mascara could affect your eyelash retention.

What if I want my extensions removed?

No problem! We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. The gel remover is worked over the lashes until the adhesive is dissolved and the the extensions nicely come off.
